ABOUT NICK
Wheaton Magician & Mentalist for Private Parties & Corporate Events
Wheaton is the DuPage County seat, and it still feels like a classic downtown town: brick storefronts along Front and Hale streets, the Metra line running through the middle of everything, and Wheaton College a few blocks north. That mix shapes the events here. Big family celebrations, graduation open houses every June, milestone birthdays in finished basements, and company dinners for the firms and county offices that call Wheaton home. As a magician and mentalist, I bring a live mind-reading show and strolling mentalism built for exactly those rooms. If you would like to see the style first, watch my live segment on WGN-TV’s Spotlight Chicago.
From Cantigny to the Living Room: Wheaton Venues
Some of the area’s most memorable celebrations happen at Cantigny Park, where the gardens and reception spaces make a natural backdrop for weddings, anniversary parties and corporate dinners. Arrowhead Golf Club hosts receptions, banquets and holiday parties in its ballroom, and the DuPage County Fairgrounds takes on the bigger community and company gatherings. Plenty of Wheaton’s best parties happen at home, though, in the older houses near downtown and the newer neighborhoods to the south and west. I adapt to all of them: strolling mentalism for a cocktail hour that spills onto a patio, or a stand-up show in the living room once dinner is finished.
Graduation Parties and Family Celebrations
Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South send a lot of seniors across the stage each spring, and graduation-party weekends fill up fast. A grad open house is a tricky crowd, with teenagers, grandparents, neighbors and coworkers all in one backyard, and mentalism is one of the few acts that lands with every one of them. The material is written for adults but works for guests about 13 and up, so the graduate’s friends are just as involved as the grandparents. For a sit-down birthday or anniversary, the stand-up show runs about 50 minutes, keeps everyone in their seats and turns the guest of honor into the star of at least one impossible moment. See private party entertainment for how the formats compare, or browse these adult birthday party ideas.
Corporate Dinners, Holiday Parties and Client Events
Wheaton’s business community is a mix of professional offices, law firms near the county courthouse, healthcare groups and family-owned companies that have been here for generations. Their events tend to be dinners rather than conventions: a client appreciation night, a retirement send-off, a December party for forty people in a private room downtown. Strolling mentalism works during the cocktail hour with no setup and no microphone. A featured set after the meal gives the whole team one shared experience, like a sealed prediction opened at the very end or a word a coworker merely thought of appearing where it could not possibly be. Explore corporate event entertainment, employee appreciation programs and these retirement party ideas.
Weddings and Cocktail Hours
Receptions in and around Wheaton often have a gap that needs filling: the cocktail hour while the couple finishes photos in the gardens. Strolling mind reading keeps guests mixing, gives out-of-town relatives something to talk about and never competes with the band or DJ. More on that in wedding cocktail hour entertainment in DuPage County and on the wedding page.
What Wheaton Audiences Are Like
Wheaton crowds tend to be warm, curious and a little skeptical in the best way: the kind of guests who want to know how it works and enjoy being fooled anyway. That is perfect for mentalism. Instead of props and card tricks, the show is built around the guests themselves, their thoughts, their choices and their memories. Families who have lived here for decades and newcomers who just moved in for the schools end up laughing at the same moments, and that shared reaction is what people remember.
Planning a Wheaton Event
A few practical notes keep everything running smoothly. For strolling, plan about an hour for every 40 to 50 guests so each group gets real time with me. For a stand-up show, a clear spot about the size of an area rug is plenty, and it plays best once people have finished eating. Graduation season and the December holidays book first, so it pays to reach out early. The frequently asked questions cover space, timing and group size in more detail.
