Elmhurst Magician & Mentalist for Private Parties & Corporate Events

Elmhurst manages to feel like a small town and a busy city at the same time. Downtown around York Street is full of restaurants, the historic York Theatre and plenty of reasons to make a night of it. Elmhurst University is a short walk away, and Wilder Park, home to the conservatory, the public library, the Elmhurst Art Museum and the historic Wilder Mansion, sits just off downtown. With I-290 and I-294 on its edges, Elmhurst is also easy for guests to reach from the city and the rest of the suburbs. For Elmhurst parties, receptions and company events, I offer a seated mind-reading show, strolling mentalism or both. See the act in my live segment on WGN-TV’s Spotlight Chicago.

Wilder Mansion, the Art Museum and Elmhurst Venues

Elmhurst has some of the most distinctive event spaces in DuPage County. Wilder Mansion hosts weddings, showers and anniversary parties in a restored historic home, and the Elmhurst Art Museum, which includes Mies van der Rohe’s McCormick House, rents its galleries for receptions that feel nothing like a standard banquet. Elm West Banquets and the private dining rooms around York Street cover everything from rehearsal dinners to retirement parties. Each room calls for something different: strolling mentalism while guests explore a gallery, or a short featured set in a ballroom after the toasts.

Private Parties and In-Home Shows

Elmhurst’s tree-lined streets are full of classic bungalows and older family homes that are built for house parties. A stand-up mentalism show turns the living room into the best seat in town for about 50 minutes. All I need is a clear spot about the size of an area rug and an audience that has finished eating. Guests are pulled into every routine, the material suits adults and teens 13 and up, and the guest of honor always gets a moment in the spotlight. For a looser, mingling crowd, strolling mentalism moves from group to group instead. Compare the options on the private party page.

Corporate Events and Holiday Parties

Elmhurst is home to well-known employers, a major hospital and a long list of professional firms, and its location makes it an easy meeting point for teams commuting from the city and the western suburbs. That makes it a common choice for client appreciation dinners, team celebrations and December holiday parties. Mentalism gives a professional crowd something genuinely interactive without anyone feeling put on the spot: a coworker’s thought revealed, or a prediction sealed hours earlier that turns out to be exactly right. Weddings and Cocktail Hours

Elmhurst weddings often have an elegant, intimate feel, and the cocktail hour is the perfect place for strolling mind reading. While the couple finishes photos, guests are drawn into small groups for a few minutes of astonishment that gives them something to talk about at dinner, and nothing competes with the band, the DJ or the toasts. More on that on the wedding page and in wedding cocktail hour entertainment in DuPage County.

Anniversaries and Family Celebrations

Many Elmhurst families celebrate close to home, and a milestone anniversary or a big birthday is a chance to gather the whole family in one room. Mentalism is one of the rare acts that works for every generation at once, because the show is built from the guests’ own choices and memories rather than props. These anniversary party ideas have more inspiration.

Planning Tips for Elmhurst Events

Plan about an hour of strolling for every 40 to 50 guests, and schedule any seated show for after the meal. December fills up quickly in Elmhurst, and spring wedding season is close behind. The FAQ covers space, timing and group size.
